Listen Dance at Summer Festivals

We're very excited to announce that our experimental dance event Listen Dance is coming to Latitude and Wilderness festivals this summer alongside our appearance at the Salisbury International Festival.

Listen Dance is a life-affirming celebration of social dance from the Olivier Award-winning Little Bulb.

Led by a genre-hopping live band, you’ll be invited to try a range of different social dances, from ceilidh to disco, house to hora, and even a beginner’s guide to moshing! Every dance is opt-in and beginner-friendly. You don’t need to know the moves, you just need to show up. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes moving, always joyful, all are welcome!

Antarctica is coming to polka this Christmas!

We're thrilled to be returning to the amazing Polka Theatre with our family show 'Antarctica'.

At the bottom of our planet, lies the South Pole: a magical, wind-whipped world of snow, ice and some of the most wondrous creatures on Earth including slip-sliding penguins, cheeky kelp gulls and mysterious creatures of the deep.

In fact, only the bravest of explorers have ever set foot there. Could you be one of them?

This Christmas, our Studio is once again transformed into a wintry wonderland for our younger audiences to enjoy, as the incomparably brilliant Olivier Award-winning Little Bulb (Four Seasons, Hibernation, CBeebies’ The Nutcracker) whisk you away on an unforgettable journey full of clowning, puppets and plenty of snowy surprises.

We really love @rebeccapitt86’s redesign of her original image for The Nutcracker this year incorporating @samueljwilde’s beautiful handmade Nutcracker and cardboard aesthetic for the show into the title (which she also made lovingly by hand - swipe to see!) So grateful to her & @scrckr for all their work on it and so exciting to see that it’s out and about in central London tube stations!

So, in a completely WILD turn of events, this morning we’re unbelievably excited to announce that THE NUTCRACKER IS TRANSFERRING TO THE WEST END THIS CHRISTMAS!!!

That’s right, The Cheesy Five are back and they’ve hit the big time! Although, hilariously enough, we’ll be playing on top of The Mousetrap at St Martin’s Theatre!! So watch out mice!

When two squabbling siblings receive a mysterious nutcracker from their flamboyant Aunt on Christmas Eve, it sets them off on a fantastical journey into ‘The Mousey Realm’. Can they put their differences aside and stop the evil, many-headed Mouse King before he ruins Christmas? Only time will tell…

This bold and brilliantly silly tale is brought to ingenious theatrical life with clever cardboard creations, comic characters and a chorus of cheeky musical mice. It’s crammed full of action, laugh-out-loud comedy, and a sleigh-load of feelgood festive bangers that’ll have you dancing in your seat - with just the right amount of cheese.

Walking into the weekend like…🕺

Tonight is the final Listen Dance performance of the year so we’re throwing back to the last Four Seasons show of the year in July which, very serendipitously, ended in the Isle of Man (aka where The Beegees were born!)

We’ve had such a wonderful time touring this year and wanted to thank all the venues who’ve hosted us, all the audiences who’ve come to watch us and of course, all the amazing artists, creatives, producers, technicians and front of house teams we’ve been lucky enough to work with who’ve brought the shows to life.

As we say goodbye to Summer (and hello to this very autumnal weather!) it feels like the perfect time to announce that we’ll be bringing Antarctica (the very first show we made for children back in 2013!) back to its original home this Christmas, the Bristol Old Vic Studio!

That’s right, the ‘Owlarbear’ (and other, non-mythical, creatures of the South Pole) will be returning this Winter from 5th Dec - 10th Jan with an all new cast (to be announced soon) and beautiful new artwork by the incredibly talented Louise Boulter.
